We took a road trip last weekend to the high country to get some shots of the turning aspens before the snow and wind took them down. As it turns out it was one of those perfect days, clear blue sky’s, bright sunshine, fresh blanket of snow on the high peaks surrounding us, and just an all around gorgeous day. Our journey took us west on I 70 to Georgetown, over Guanella pass road to Grant on highway 285 and then over Boreas pass road and back to Breckenridge and I 70. We had a lot of fun attempting to capture the beauty of God’s creation that surrounded us. We were up early and in the middle of it all at sunrise, but while the golden hour is usually the best for outstanding photos, we found that the golden glow of the aspen leaves came to life with the sun a little higher in the sky on this day. Although we ended up with a lot of awesome shots, these are a couple of my favorites. There are a lot of beautiful places around the world, but none more beautiful in my opinion than the Rocky Mountains in the fall. I hope you enjoy the photos and that it encourages you to pick up your camera and go out and make some memories with your loved ones.
